In this day and age, learning English is already a necessity. In fact, people consider it a “lingua franca” or a global language. It has helped businesses thrive, students enter their dream schools, and professionals work for their dream companies. However, just like any other language, learning English can be challenging especially for those who are learning it for the first time.
This article lists three among many ways how beginners can learn English fast:
This means understanding clearly the real reason why somebody does something because it is what will give them the courage to accomplish any ambition. Since learning a language is not as easy as pie, it is important for a starter to know WHY he or she is doing it. There are lots of possible reasons why somebody wants to learn English: travel, work, family, and other personal reasons.
Having a clear purpose also helps the learner consider the ways in which he or she will approach the subject. A person who wants to study English for business purposes would have to focus on business vocabulary and expressions whereas a person who wants to study it for traveling reasons could focus on common expressions that he or she can use in any of his or her trips.
Making a clear study plan doesn’t only help a learner focus on the most important things but would also help the student manage his time wisely. Therefore, before a starter begins learning, he or she must already have considered WHEN, WHERE, HOW, and WHAT to study. If a student decides to learn English, he must start choosing between studying online or face-to-face. He must also think about the lessons that he will be focusing on. There are many possible subjects that English learners can choose from: business English, ESL subjects, and test modules like IELTS (International English Language Testing System), TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication), OPIc (Oral Proficiency Interview Computer), and TOEFL (the Test Of English as a Foreign Language).
There are four macro skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Some people who are good at listening might not be good at speaking and vice versa. Generally, we all have our own strengths and weaknesses. Nonetheless, our weaknesses must not stop us from trying to improve and develop ourselves. One of the most practical ways for a neophyte to learn a language fast is by simply relating his daily activities to English. If he is in the mood to watch a movie then he must watch an American or English film and if he is in the mood to read a book, then he must try to read English novels. By relating one’s daily activities to the language you are learning, a person is able to learn culture as well which is a great benefit for the reason that culture is essential to learning a language.
